A word form the Headteacher
Dear Parents / Guardians
The end of a busy term
The end of term is fast approaching and in retrospect we should be extremely proud of what has been achieved in extremely challenging and difficult circumstances. The recent COVID wave has impacted us for weeks now and many pupils and staff have caught the illness. Despite that, and the problems that come with it, we have been able to continue the lessons and activities (those that are possible under the restrictions). This has not been an easy task, so a big thank you to all the staff for persisting in the face of extremely challenging conditions, but mainly thanks to the pupils - the vast majority of whom have shown exceptional resilience over the last term - well done, we are very proud of you
The sad news is that, although we have started preparing and practicing, it will not be possible to hold the Brynrefail School Eisteddfod as planned on December 17th. This is a huge disappointment to us all, especially the sixth formers who benefit so much from preparing the various items and training the younger pupils. Sadly, this side of school life is still impossible to maintain - for the time being anyway.
As the Eisteddfod will not take place it is intended to publish a video of a number of items in the Virtual Christmas Concert showing some of the highlights of the past season. Not as good as the School Eisteddfod of course, but a different opportunity to showcase these talents.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all pupils, staff, parents and friends of the school.
